A camp inspired lakeside retreat in New Hampshire connects with nature
[ad_1]
This four-season camp-inspired lakeside retreat was designed for a family of five by Murdough Design, located on just over 12-acres in Moultonborough, New Hampshire. Located down a winding road through a serene forest, the retreat boasts breathtaking views of Lake Winnipesaukee.
The structure consists of a 2,733 square foot main residence along with a 382 square feet guest cabin, connected via an elevated boardwalk. Once an outdated, dilapidated cabin, this dwelling has undergone a complete renovation with modern designs and finishes. There is a living roof and an expansive rooftop deck and walkway to connect with nature and the scenery that surrounds the home.
DESIGN DETAILS: ARCHITECT Murdough Design BUILDER Denali Construction EXTERIOR CLADDING reSAWN TIMBER co.
The exterior cladding was sourced from reSAWN TIMBER co. and includes:
- CUSTOM weathered Western Red Cedar
- STK (Select Tight Knot)
- Finished on face only, sealed all 4 sides (exterior)
- Solid 3/4” thick x 5” wide x 6′-16′ random lengths
- Shiplap
The home’s design features countless large windows that provide expansive views of the lake and trees surrounding it. Some of reSAWN’s exterior cladding transitions into the interior, providing a seamless design. “The exterior palette and glass are designed to visually camouflage and recess the building into the landscape,” states the architects.
Western Red Cedar was an excellent selection as a building material in this project, as it is one of North America’s great renewable resources. In addition to its prominence as a sustainable exterior material, it’s very durable.
What We Love: This lakeside retreat in New Hampshire blurs the lines between indoors and out thanks to an abundance of glazing. Surrounded by a peaceful setting of mature growth trees and the lake, this home provides its inhabitants with a wonderful atmosphere to relax and unwind. We are loving the clean lines and low-maintenance materials that were used in this project… not to mention the living roof and rooftop viewing deck!
Tell Us: Would this waterfront cabin be your idea of the ultimate family getaway? Please share your thoughts in the Comments, we love reading your feedback!
