THE Consumer
Aiming to make a stylish pied-à-terre downtown to delight in with their two young sons, a successful pair of business owners in their mid-30s turned to star designer Summer time Thornton to create a modern-day get on a common co-op.
The sons’ bed room is a vision of verdant inexperienced many thanks to upholstery and Raphaël wallpaper by Scalamandré and carpeting by Stark.
THE Precedence
“They preferred anything city, chic and more colorful than what they dwell with in their primary residence—a design and style fantasy,” notes Thornton. “They allowed us to choose that and translate what that intended.”
“I’m obsessed with the kitchen,” raves interior designer Summertime Thornton, noting its incredible spaciousness and daring lacquered pink inset cupboards and crimson selection.
THE Problem
The kitchen’s first location—smack in the center of the apartment—meant a lost opportunity to seize the space’s breathtaking lake perspective. Thornton’s alternative? Moving the kitchen to the entrance of the condominium, more than tripling its size and opening it up to the major residing house. “In a co-op high-increase creating this was a feat of engineering,” states the designer, “but it produced this kind of a big difference in how the area life and feels. No one had at any time finished this in the developing right before, but we located a way to make it do the job, and it fully reworked the way the apartment flows and modernizes the format.”

THE Detail
“I’m obsessed with the kitchen,” enthuses Thornton. “I like how roomy it is, how it has an monumental lake see and how it connects to the living region. I’m also obsessed with its shade and all round style—the pink insets in the cabinets and on the vary are so sudden and bold. The white oak all over the insets keeps it chic and complex. Kudos to my client for remaining so brave. I also appreciate how the major toilet turned out. It feels masculine and really distinct than your regular white marble predicament. The force for a lot more masculinity arrived from the customer, and the wooden paneled walls aided us achieve that.”
The mixture of Calacatta Monet marble and prosperous white oak wooden paneling provides the master bathtub a masculine vibe.
THE Outcome
