Good day my great mates! Wow, daily life has been so crazy around here lately. SO a lot heading on. I will be happy when things settle down a bit so I can get back again to all the pleasurable tasks I have planned. I hope you have not minded observing some older posts I’ve pulled from the archive! I determine some of you may well have skipped them the to start with time all around so may possibly be a excellent time to revisit.
But nowadays I have got a new a person for ya! I am striving hard to get this corridor bathroom done. (and it virtually is other than for decorating and a few last touches, yippee!)
You may well keep in mind when I very first regarded as redoing this lavatory (again) here… Hall Toilet Mood Board & Ideas
If you simply click in excess of to check that out you will see my authentic plans for the rest room. Sad to say, factors went in a little bit of a diverse path considerably because I could not get that vanity cabinet. BUT I like how it went! In some cases matters just perform out for the better, love that.
I’m not exhibiting you the complete toilet these days. I’m sharing the floating shelves that I gave a “wood look” to with paint and stain.
My partner and I manufactured these floating shelves years back. You can examine all about it in this publish below … Diy Floating Cabinets Tutorial
And as a refresher…here is how they made use of to glance with the old wall coloration.
They appear excellent in white with that wall shade.
But not so great with this color…
Which is not “white-white” despite the fact that it looks it. It’s my beloved gentle (not heat) white that I utilized in our kitchen area, early morning space and eating space downstairs.
It is a shade by Benjamin Moore called Pure White. I experienced it colour matched at Sherwin Williams though.
I understood I preferred them to have a wood look due to the fact of every thing else I have likely on in below. There are several approaches to do it but I decided to do it related to how I not long ago did the bathtub cupboard in our downstairs guest bath. You can see it listed here … Coastal Visitor Bathtub Refresh
I did do a person little minimal detail different on these even though. I’ll show ya! )
I commenced by taping the cabinets up with my absolute favourite tape.
Then I painted them with the Cobblestone paint joined higher than.
And then the excess stage that I did this time…dry brushing on some of the “Ash” color. (see it above?)
And below…
I just considered that may possibly give it a bit far more dimension like authentic wood has underneath the stain.
I imagine it was a great choice. Additional could have been even far better.
The moment that was dry (I enable it sit overnight given that it is water primarily based and the stain is oil centered) I applied the stain. (with a lint no cost rag)
See the bottom a person I stained? The major a person is continue to just paint.
Isn’t that the coolest? I like how it appears to be wooden-ish. And oh so just also!
Here’s a different shot to see the top rated superior. (with the light-weight on)
And finished!
So significantly much better than white. There is a lot of white likely on in right here previously, the shelves did not require to be white also! lol
I’m so delighted with how they turned out. That Driftwood stain is versitile, I tell ya!
And one particular of the darker stains I promote in the store would work properly also if you are going for a darker wood glance.
A small sneak peek of the new mirror.
By the way, this is not the ultimate styling of the shelves, I just threw that up there for the pics.
May well be near to that though, we’ll see!
A number of near ups of that wood search we have heading on now.
Have you tried using the Driftwood stain however?? I know a bunch of you have ordered it! I have had to restock it various situations. 🙂
PIN it to save it!
I’ll see you back listed here next week with the Whole Expose!! PLUS…the whole tutorial on how I painted our rest room flooring tiles. See you then!
In the meantime, we are headed to our pleased position for the weekend! A minimal work…a very little play. Stay tuned about on Instagram, I could share a snippet or two. 🙂
